Title:

Spacecraft Mechanical Technician

KBR is seeking to hire a Lead Engineering Technician to join our team. The National Technologies Engineering Group (NTG) provides full spectrum engineering and technical solutions across the life cycle of DoD military systems on land, at sea, in the air and in space. Areas of expertise include acquisition, systems engineering and integration, AI/big data applications, cyber, R&D, test and evaluation, C4ISR and sustainment engineering.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the fabrication, assembly, integration, testing and transportation of Space Flight systems.
  • Under limited supervision, installs, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and modifies components, parts, equipment, and systems for Space Flight programs. Receives instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed. Performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed. Performs recurring work independently and work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
  • Builds, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs equipment and structural/mechanical Space Flight hardware.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems.
  • Reads blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling equipment and Space Flight hardware.
  • Constructs components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment. May troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
  • Follows specific layouts and diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.
  • Selects, sets up, and operates standard test equipment and records test data.
  • Tests equipment, using standard test equipment and procedures, and analyzes results to evaluate performance. Determines if adjustments to equipment are necessary. Makes minor modifications in test setups or procedures as appropriate.
  • Assists in design modification by compiling data related to the design, specifications, and materials needed.
  • Gathers information on parts or equipment concerning previous operational failures and modifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or related field, or military technical training program, or completion of technical institute program or 8 years of related experience. Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
  • Active Secret Clearance highly desirable; or must be able to secure a Secret clearance classification.


Additional Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work as a versatile teammate
  • Forklift and crane experience preferred
