About you:
The identity team is responsible for current customer facing authentication and authorization services. These services power UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) offerings such as recruiting, onboarding, mobile, workflow management, and community. As a result, this team is very highly visible and important, striving for near perfect reliability, stability, and performance. Customer success is our number one goal, and we make sure to provide that with every decision.

The Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for leading and influencing key initiatives for current customer identity live services. They will be responsible for developing strategies and driving complex projects with very minimal to no guidance while anticipating issues, recognizing risks, considering alternatives, and supporting long range goals. This person will be the bridge between architecture, management and a 10 person team communicating, influencing across levels and preparing the technical content that the team will use to execute and deliver on initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:
Lead and influence large key initiatives within the sub function and/or function
Develop strategy and innovate various automation solutions to meet the most unique and complex demands
Strive to reduce complex architecture and designs to clean and simple solutions
Communicate and influence team members as well as leadership to overcome obstacles and meet team goals
Anticipate significant business issues and changes to support long range goals and objectives while continuously considering alternative solutions
Dive and troubleshoot unique and complex implementations and orchestrations
Work with other teams and team members to evaluate frameworks, services and applications that support our deployment goals
Provide leadership, troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production issues that are escalated to the engineering team.

Qualifications
About the role:
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years' engaging and working with cross-functional enterprise level software development projects using Agile development methodologies such as Kanban or Scrum
3+ years leading and developing strategy for large key initiatives with substantial risk and complexity with minimal guidance
Subject matter experience working with Java, Spring
Strong knowledge of microservices architecture
Strong experience building event-driven, reactive microservices with Kafka Streams
Recent experience working with Kubernetes, Docker and public cloud deployment platforms
Strong experience working with continuous integration and continuous delivery
Experience with Git and its workflows
Self-motivated, continuous improvement mindset
Ability to manage and balance multiple deliverables concurrently in an environment with shifting priorities

Preferred Qualifications:
Golang, Angular exposure
Identity experience with SAML, OAuth2, OIDC, or IDaaS
Experience with CQRS and Event Sourcing
Experience with observability
CI/CD pipeline experience
