Analog Devices (ADI) is launching an exciting new initiative - the Emerging Tech Hub - a collaborative space where customers, partners, and academic collaborators can rapidly prototype solutions tailored to their unique challenges.
We are seeking a Staff Robotics Lab Engineer to lead the development of both robotic software frameworks and high-performance mechanical infrastructure in support of ADI's cutting-edge AI and robotics innovations. This hybrid role combines deep hands-on expertise in mechatronics, system integration, and lab operations with the ability to design, build, and support robotic solutions from the ground up.
You will work closely with customers, researchers, and product development teams to advance intelligent robotic systems from concept to working prototypes - driving both internal engineering excellence and exceptional customer-facing engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Customer-Facing Technical Leadership
- Serve as the technical point of contact for customer and partner engagements at the Emerging Tech Hub.
- Translate customer application requirements into integrated robotics solutions, including mechanical, electrical, and software components.
- Lead technical demonstrations, proof-of-concept builds, and rapid iterations based on user feedback.
Robotic Software & Framework Development
- Develop and maintain core robotic middleware frameworks (e.g., ROS2), sensor interfaces, and test automation scripts in Python and C++.
- Collaborate with software engineers and researchers to enable intelligent perception, motion planning, and AI integration in robotic platforms.
- Build validation environments and support simulation/hardware-in-the-loop testing.
Mechanical & Systems Engineering
- Design, assemble, and integrate custom robotic testbeds, sensor mounts, motion platforms, and modular tooling.
- Support mechanical prototyping via 3D printing (FDM/SLA), CNC machining, and CAD design (SolidWorks/Fusion 360).
- Perform system-level debugging and precision calibration for electro-mechanical assemblies.
Advanced Lab Management
- Lead day-to-day robotics lab operations including equipment upkeep, workspace layout, and safety compliance.
- Interface with Facilities and EH&S to uphold safety protocols and support lab audits.
- Ensure the lab remains a functional, efficient, and innovation-driven space for rapid development.
Inventory & Vendor Coordination
- Manage lab inventory including sensors, robotic parts, mechanical components, and consumables.
- Evaluate vendors, oversee purchases, and coordinate equipment installations and service agreements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in an advanced robotics, prototyping, or R&D lab environment with both mechanical and software responsibilities.
- Strong experience in ROS/ROS2, Python, and C++ for robotic system development.
- Proven ability to design, build, and test mechanical fixtures, sensor rigs, or actuator systems.
- Skilled in soldering, PCB rework, system integration, and electro-mechanical troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360), 3D printing, and machine shop tools.
- Comfortable working directly with customers and partners to co-develop solutions and communicate technical decisions.
- Familiarity with lab management systems, safety standards, and documentation practices.
- Bonus: Experience with mobile robots, collaborative arms, or real-time control systems.
