Project Overview

There are three primary objectives of this engagement: 1) Contingent worker will be responsible for risk scoring EPMO s Project portfolio (600+ projects), per request. Bill Knowles estimated that about 2000 hours is necessary to complete the review of the project portfolio following improved methodologies and in support of the VISION2030 Renewed 2) Evaluate project risks across the top enterprise risks at NYPA and Canals, using the defined methodology 3) Prepare detailed reports summarizing the outcome of the risk scoring session for the portfolio of projects.

Job Functions & Responsibilities

  1. Project Data Review: a. Review each project and support data available from UOPP and Subject Matter Experts to gain an understanding of the potential risks.
  2. Risk Scoring: a. Evaluate and score risks for each project across the enterprise risk categories using the provided methodology and scoring tool. b. Document justification statements to support the decision of the scores.
  3. Comparison to Risk Appetite:
  • Compare the calculated risk scores to the organization s risk appetite using the provided methodology and scoring tool.
  • Identify projects that exceed, meet, or fall below the defined risk appetite thresholds.
  1. Reporting: a. Prepare detailed reports summarizing the risk scores for the projects and analyzing the risk levels across the project portfolio.

Skills

  1. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data sets and identify trends and insights related to project risks and opportunities.
  2. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in risk assessment tools and software, as well as familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
  3. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  4. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in risk scoring and reporting.
  5. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify gaps in existing methodologies and propose effective solutions.
  6. Industry Knowledge: Preferred understanding of industry best practices and familiarity with standards in risk management frameworks (e.g. COSO, ISO31000).
  7. Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently. 8. Stakeholder Engagement: Experience in collaborating with various stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor s Degree: A degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced Degree (Preferred): A master s degree in risk management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in risk management or project management.
  • Proven experience in performing and reviewing risk assessments, and data analytics.
  • Experience in preparing detailed reports and presenting findings to stakeholders.
