Responsibilities
- Product Design & Development:
- Lead and contribute to the conceptualization, design, and engineering of new recreational product models and enhancements to existing lines.
- Focus on optimizing performance, stability, load-carrying capacity, and overall user experience for versatile platforms.
- Structural & Material Engineering:
- Apply advanced knowledge of composite materials, resins, and core materials to ensure structural integrity, durability, and optimal weight distribution.
- Conduct analyses to validate designs against various stress conditions.
- System Integration:
- Design and integrate various product systems, ensuring robustness, accessibility for maintenance, and compliance with relevant industry standards.
- Manufacturing Process Optimization:
- Collaborate with the production team to develop and refine manufacturing processes for composite construction.
- Optimize mold design, lamination schedules, part assembly sequences, and quality control procedures to enhance efficiency and product consistency.
- Prototyping & Testing:
- Oversee the construction and rigorous testing of prototypes.
- Develop comprehensive test plans to evaluate product performance, stability, durability, and compliance with design specifications.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all designs and manufacturing processes comply with applicable industry standards and regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving regulations and best practices.
- Documentation:
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and technical reports using CAD/CAM software.
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate effectively with sales, marketing, production, and customer service teams to understand market needs, address feedback, and ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Proactively identify opportunities for product improvement, cost reduction, and process efficiency.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, materials, and design trends within the recreational product industry.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in recreational product design and manufacturing, with a strong emphasis on composite construction.
- Demonstrated expertise in CAD/CAM software and analysis tools.
- In-depth knowledge of product systems.
- Solid understanding of structural design principles.
- Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Hands-on experience with composite lamination and product building processes is highly desirable.
- A strong passion for recreational products and a deep understanding of user needs in various aquatic environments.
