Job Title: Senior Application Security Engineer - DevSecOps & AI Security

Locations: Charlotte, NC (Preferred) | Chandler, AZ | Iselin, NJ
Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Senior Application Security Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role is ideal for a hands-on security expert with deep experience in Application Security (AppSec), DevSecOps, and AI-supported development environments. You will play a pivotal role in shaping secure development practices, driving innovation, and embedding security into every phase of the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a subject matter expert in Application Security, DevSecOps, and Cloud Security across multiple cloud platforms.
• Lead the implementation of policy as code, infrastructure as code (IaC), and secure CI/CD pipelines.
• Conduct and guide SAST, DAST, IAST, and threat modeling activities.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate security into modern DevOps workflows.
• Prototype and develop secure solutions, tools, and frameworks to support secure coding practices.
• Provide strategic guidance and thought leadership (25%) while remaining hands-on (75%) with security tooling and development.
• Evaluate and implement security for AI/GenAI, AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot), and emerging technologies.
• Engage with senior leadership to influence security strategy and transformation initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 7+ years of engineering experience in AppSec, DevSecOps, or related fields.
• Deep expertise in:
  • SAST/DAST tools (e.g., Checkmarx, Fortify, Semgrep, BlackDuck, Prisma)
  • DevOps tools (e.g., Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) with relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Kubernetes Admin, Cloud Security Architect)
  • Programming languages: Java or C#/.NET Core, with experience developing RESTful APIs
  • Scripting and database: Python, PowerShell, SQL, PostgreSQL
• Experience with AI security, AI-supported development, and securing GenAI applications.
• Proven track record in site reliability engineering, cloud-native security, and modern development environments.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive change.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a modern DevOps shop with a strong security-first culture.
• Familiarity with software bill of materials (SBOMs) and secure software supply chain practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead security transformation initiatives and optimize shift-left strategies.
