Job Details

Tesla's Supplier Industrialization team is responsible for critical raw materials, component production and qualification activities at suppliers. This role will be responsible for selecting, qualifying, scaling battery electrode foil material manufacturing processes and quality system at Tesla supplier locations. In this role, you will work closely with many organizations both internal and external to Tesla, taking new battery designs from initial concept through into full production.
The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. The work environment is demanding, fast-paced and incredibly exciting. Responsibilities
  • Review/setup, qualify& scale process flow for battery electrode foil manufacturing
  • Monitor production output at existing facilities and support capacity expansion with existing suppliers
  • Conduct modeling to simulate foil manufacturing process for predicting the foil mechanical properties
  • Drive foil related FA at supplier location
  • Setup In-process, OQC and corresponding IQC material quality controls; qualify the metrology for the same
  • Project manage activities at supplier locations and ensure all required milestones are meeting Tesla product qualification on time
  • Act as a technical contact point for battery electrode foil manufacturing processes and co-ordinate activities within internal and external teams

Requirements
  • Degree in Material, Mechanical or related engineering discipline, with 2+ years of experience in battery foil manufacturing process & quality control, or in mechanical modeling & simulation or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of battery cell manufacturing / performance correlation to foil properties. Modeling experience in such correlation analysis is preferred
  • Knowledge in foil characterization techniques and metrology, such as stress-strain curve
  • Having experience on battery cell FACA is a plus, especially foil related failures
  • Must be well versed in statistical data analysis & process capability analysis
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel - 30%

      $85,760 - $236,160/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
