Duties

• You will install and operate complex new research, prototype, and commercial mechanical systems and equipment.
• You will fabricate component fixtures, tools, and support fixtures that are required to support test equipment and models.
• You will operate equipment under test, support systems and facilities in accordance with test procedures.
• You will record empirical data and recommend modification to operating scenarios and prototype equipment as needed.
• You will troubleshoot systems or equipment undergoing test, diagnosis failures and determine/assist in identifying the cause.
• You will make repairs.
• You will initiate the procurement of materials required for the test set up and support systems.
• You will coordinate the services of other trades such as riggers, crane operations, pipefitters, sheet metal mechanics, and instrument mechanics in the construction and operation of test sites and labs.
• You will direct other mechanics in the test set up and facility support.
• You will act as the lead mechanic directing other tradesmen in the overhaul, and alteration of shipboard machinery systems.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
