Job Description Summary
Part of a global team developing the real-time control software for industry-leading MR Scanners. Design, implement and test firmware subsystems, in collaboration with the system design team and hardware engineers, utilizing the MR hardware and embedded software technologies. Design and implementation of distributed control software that manages the next-generation components and subsystems medical devices. Leverage DFR for software, Agile and Lean software development methodologies to drive reliability into the product development life cycle. Design and build strong testing infrastructures to minimize dependency on hardware availability. Engage in all phases of New Product Introduction (NPI), including concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support. Work closely with systems teams in requirements gathering and software design. Support planning the development activities; perform technical design and code reviews, mentor and coach junior engineers. Collaborate with global engineering teams to promote consistency and maximize synergies across common software platforms.

Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with systems and hardware teams on requirements gathering and capture
  • Interact with global software and hardware teams to ensure software platform consistency across all MR platforms.
  • Develop software which meets rigorous quality, reliability, performance, and testability requirements.
  • Work closely with architects and team leads on design and architectural improvements.
  • Perform code and design reviews when appropriate. Use Scaled Agile Framework to implement software.
  • Support planning and execution through user stories to meet commitment made by scrum team.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience developing software in C++ and object oriented design.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Two years using standard tools for embedded software development such as emulators, debuggers, analyzers.
  • Two years supporting hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Two experience with software development cycle or automated testing.
  • One years of experience working directly on/with Realtime OS such as VxWorks
  • One year experience developing embedded software including interrupt handling and multi-threaded applications.
  • Experience in heavily regulated environment that required rigor in documenting requirements, designs, testing, and results.
  • Demonstrated experienced working on medical devices within a Quality Management System (QMS)
