Position Summary
The Network Engineer is responsible for the strategic planning, design, and optimization of the organization s network infrastructure. This role develops and implements advanced network solutions leveraging copper, fiber, and wireless technologies. The engineer translates business requirements into robust, scalable, and secure network architectures while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key responsibilities include configuring and maintaining routers, switches, and wireless access points; evaluating and recommending new products; monitoring network performance; and leading enterprise-wide network projects. This role requires travel to remote sites, after-hours support participation, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Applicant Expectations
Hold Cisco certifications in Network Professional, Design Professional, Security Professional, and Voice Professional domains.
Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end network infrastructure (DMARC to workstations, fiber distribution, routers, switches, DHCP, topology, QoS).
Strong experience with HPE/Aruba Switching products (capacity/risk assessment, contingency planning, lifecycle management).
Ability to configure/manage network switch equipment with attention to protocol compatibility, system tuning, and performance optimization.
Strong knowledge of the OSI model and its application in data flow across the environment.
Strategize and implement infrastructure equipment replacement plans that meet security standards and update cycles.
Collaborate with Information Security teams on firewall rules and PCI compliance.
Plan, implement, and forecast moderate-complexity network systems, ensuring proper resource allocation.
Document configurations, technology solutions, and insights from monitoring tools.
Mentor junior staff in patch management, network management, fault identification, and telecom/data access.
Ensure accurate incident tracking and asset management using ticketing and inventory systems.
Participate in team projects, meetings, and knowledge-sharing.
Provide on-site support at remote locations as required.
Participate in an after-hours (evenings & weekends) on-call rotation.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
On-site presence required (5 days/week).
Required Skills
Strong expertise in network design, implementation, and administration
Hands-on experience with enterprise networking hardware
Knowledge of cloud networking environments
Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to mentor team members
Experience with network performance monitoring and optimization tools
Proficiency in creating and maintaining technical documentation
Education
Bachelor s Degree or Technical Institute Degree/Certificate in Information Systems or related field
Equivalent work experience may be considered
Experience
Minimum 7 years of IT experience in infrastructure/network environments (network operations, support, maintenance, administration)
At least 3 years of enterprise networking experience
HPE/Aruba networking equipment experience strongly preferred.
