Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Buildings to join our Building Engineering Services team in our Lansing, Grand Rapids, or Southfield, MI offices! To be considered, we ask that candidates are licensed engineers. This position will be responsible for managing, directing and supervising all electrical technical support, providing leadership and direction to boost productivity. This role will help to resolve electrical project related issues, motivate teams, identify problems, recommend improvement and for monitoring and assisting in achieving department, division, and corporate measures.

Our electrical, mechanical, and plumbing engineers are experienced in a wide range of projects, including power generation & distribution, lighting systems, fire alarms, security, and access control systems. We design new and renovated systems, as well as energy controls. We offer both new building commissioning and retro-commissioning. Our experts are skilled at reducing energy usage while creating comfortable interior environments. Our professional engineers evaluate how the design impacts both short-term capital costs and long-term operational costs. Our team can also conduct constructability reviews to lower project costs and shorten the time to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) by performing peer reviews, QAQC on projects prior to submission, and coordinating with supervisor or electrical department leader.
  • Prepare effective work plans and man-hour budgets for approval.
  • Monitor time schedules and capital cost budgets on projects to satisfy the client as well as control work and productivity.
  • Responsible for the quality control/quality assurance process on all assigned projects.
  • Participates in formulating and coordinating proposals and provides other Marketing support, including Business Development.
  • Identify the project team, work packages and tasks, evaluation methods, productivity targets, schedule of deliverables and manpower needed on projects.
  • Ensure everyone involved is working in accordance with all project planning and profit control procedures.
  • Mentor junior staff in learning sound technical and business practices and enhancing corporate objectives.
  • Assist in verifying that all design aspects comply with local code and apply code provision.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to provide a coordinated design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
  • 12-15+ years electrical engineering design experience is required within the architecture field.
  • Licensed engineer in Michigan and/or Ohio is required.
  • Proficient in Revit, AGI Lighting, and power studies (SKM, EasyPower, ETAP) software skills.
  • Passion for power, lighting, and fire alarm design.
  • Willing to travel to client locations, as needed.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
