Job Details

Job Title: Electrical Discharge Machining Operator
Location: Various Nuclear Plants throughout the Southeast US

Type: Contract
Contractor Work Model: Onsite

System One has multiple openings for Electrical Discharge Machining Operators to support the upcoming Spring 2026 outage season.

The EDM Operator is responsible for running Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The Operator ensures safe, accurate, and efficient production in compliance with nuclear quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate wire, sinker, or drill EDM machines to machine parts from hardened metals and exotic alloys.
  • Load, align, and secure workpieces and tooling.
  • Monitor machine operations and adjust feeds, speeds, and parameters as needed.
  • Inspect finished parts with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools to verify compliance with tolerances.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and maintain strict adherence to QA documentation requirements (ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B).
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and report machine issues to EDM Tool Technicians or supervisors.
  • Record production activity, inspection results, and any nonconformances.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and nuclear facility regulations if applicable.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
  • 1-3+ years experience operating EDM equipment (wire or sinker preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Basic understanding of precision measurement tools and machining practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Willingness to work in a regulated, high-safety environment.
