POSITION SUMMARY

Since the doors opened in 1972, our Atlanta factory has grown dramatically into a sustainable state-of-the-art facility. Home to one of our largest solar projects yet, the 450-kilowatt photovoltaic system of nearly 1,900 panels that powers the facility produces enough energy annually to power nearly 52 average-sized homes, or approximately 5,000 lights bulbs for an entire year. With sustainability and safety always top of mind, our Atlanta factory proudly and passionately produces 460,000 tons a year of our dry pet food brands, including Alpo , Beneful , Cat Chow , Dog Chow , Friskies , Purina ONE and Pro Plan . This plant location is just along the southern crescent of Metro Atlanta-an area that nearly 6 million residents and many of our associates call home. Atlanta is considered the major commercial and financial center of the Southeast and the growth of businesses and population continues to build the city's strong logistics, entertainment and film, and health services industries.

As the Controls Technical Specialist II, you will be responsible for providing technical software and hardware support to the maintenance staff, including troubleshooting software and hardware problems. You will also be responsible for the development and execution of electrical and controls scope on capital projects, as well as disseminating technical information on control systems to the plant staff.

  • Provide advanced electrical and controls support to maintenance and operations as-required to maintain production.
  • Provide after-hours on call support on rotating monthly schedule, generally one week per month.
  • Responsible for development and execution of electrical and controls scope on capital projects in coordination with local staff engineers and corporate engineering.
  • Responsible for identifying and executing continuous improvement projects and resolving recurring issues in order to increase overall plant effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and implement control systems software upgrades.
  • Direct outside electrical and automation contractors and verify the quality and efficacy of their work.
  • Perform application development and plant capital project work as needed.
  • Provide PLC and HMI/SCADA software and hardware support to the plant maintenance staff.
  • Assist in development of plant long term electrical and control infrastructure direction.

Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in a technical discipline
  • 3+ years' experience in PLC and HMI software development and troubleshooting

The approximate pay range for this position is $78,338 to $94,716. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
