Fivetran Database Replication Engineer

Job Title : Fivetran Database Replication Engineer Location: Miami, FL onsite

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled Fivetran Database Replication Engineer to design, implement, and maintain robust data replication pipelines using Fivetran and associated technologies. You will be responsible for ensuring reliable and scalable data ingestion from various source systems into cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift. The ideal candidate has a strong background in data engineering, database technologies, and a deep understanding of Fivetran connectors, transformations, and pipeline monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement data replication pipelines using Fivetran connectors (standard, custom, and REST API-based).
• Work with stakeholders to understand data requirements and establish reliable, secure, and scalable data flows from source systems to the data warehouse.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Fivetran syncs and replication jobs for performance, accuracy, and cost-efficiency.
• Set up and manage Fivetran transformations using SQL, dbt, or other supported frameworks.
• Collaborate with database administrators and platform engineers to configure source databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SAP) for incremental replication using change data capture (CDC).
• Implement data quality validation, alerting mechanisms, and logging for proactive monitoring.
• Automate and document repeatable processes, support onboarding of new connectors and data domains.
• Participate in performance tuning and error resolution across pipelines and replication layers.
• Ensure data security and compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or database replication.
• Proven hands-on experience with Fivetran, including custom connectors and dbt-based transformations.
• Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
• Proficiency in SQL and knowledge of dbt for transformation and modeling.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure.
• Knowledge of data integration, ETL/ELT processes, and modern data stack tools.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, and Infrastructure as Code is a plus.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Fivetran, dbt, or a major cloud data platform.
• Familiarity with data observability tools (e.g., Monte Carlo, Databand, Great Expectations).
• Background in Kafka, Airflow, or other orchestration tools.
