Duties

Help

  • Serves as the Lead IT Storage Specialist and technical authority and support for the Storage area Network and Network Area Storage in the DLA enterprise.
  • Maintain Internal hardware and software inventory, internal budget, maintenance, staffing and procurement contracts.
  • Isolates, identifies, analyzes, evaluates and resolves hardware, software and/or communication problems as they relate to Storage architectures.
  • Coaches the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques, provides advice on work methods, practices/procedures, and assists the team in identifying the parameters of a viable solution.
  • Articulates and communicates to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones and/or program issue under review, and deadlines and timeframes for completion.
  • Identifies, distributes and balances workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and/or occupational specialization; makes adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities.
  • Makes adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks.
  • Maintains program and administrative reference materials, project files and relevant background documents and makes available policies, procedures and written instructions from the supervisor.
  • Researches, learns and applies a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency and work products.
  • Provides Tier 3 DLA Enterprise level support for Storage architectures for both the Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) and the Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET).

Qualifications

To qualify for a Lead IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFSOEC), your qualifications must include:

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) or competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Analyzes and isolates problems related to system, storage, network hardware or software to provide technical assistance to customers, OEM representatives and 3rd party provider representatives in resolving problems.
  • Performs installation and configuration of SAN, Backup, Archive, and NAS products. Also installs, configures and maintains the enterprise SAN, Backup, Archive, and NAS environment and products; researches and tests potential products for functionality and integration success
  • Evaluates and recommends new systems diagnostic tools and ensures SAN, Backup, Archive, and NAS solutions integrity and availability by monitoring operational metrics. Integrates SAN, Backup, Archive, and NAS products to support various business and technical requirements.

  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternative, and to make recommendations.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.
