ECS is seeking a Data Governance SME/architect. The architect will assist in configuring DHS' supporting data governance applications (including Collibra and DataHub), developing integrations with external systems, and developing custom workflows to support the user community.
- Architect and enhance components of data governance platforms to suit the business requirements of a federal statistical agency customer
- Define and maintain metadata models, domains, communities, and business rules
- Facilitate integration testing across various pipelines, applications, and systems
- Lead metadata migration and remapping activities (e.g., from Collibra to other platforms), including developing crosswalks
- Perform data profiling on customer datasets to identify new, repurposed, or deprecated variables
- Maintain interoperability of governance assets (communities, domains, relationships, workflows)
- Collaborate with data engineers to support metadata ingestion via SQL, Python, and APIs

Required Skills
- ship required - Ability to obtain a DHS Public Trust Security Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in an IT discipline
- 3+ years of experience with Collibra
- 3+ years of experience with DataHub or other open-source metadata platforms
- Strong SQL skills
- Strong understanding of data governance, master reference data management, reference data, date lineage, business process management, and/or data quality analysis
- Experience with data normalization/harmonization
- Experience with remapping or crosswalking during system migrations
- Ability to translate business rules into metadata structures and governance policies
Desired Skills
- Familiarity with pgAdmin, Python, and VS Studio Code
- Experience using Dagster
- Familiarity with the concepts of a data mesh
- Familiarity with data governance tool migrations (i.e., from one data governance platform/tool to another)
- Experience with configuration and change control best practices
- Knowledge of business process model notation (BPMN 2.0) techniques
- Experience working with federal clients (ideally, DHS)
- Familiarity with AWS
- Experience leading strategic planning initiatives, proposing initiatives, helping to foster adoption of technologies, and establishing priorities
