Engineer III
Purpose:
This role is responsible for the preparation and execution of Consumer Health division's capital and infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for preparing, submitting, obtaining approval, and implementation of assigned capital projects at Myerstown. This role is responsible for managing inside and outside resources for implementation of these projects. This role provides updates & communicates to all project team members and internal customers throughout all phases of a project.
This role embraces Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) principles and practices and follows the VACC approach to leadership (being a visionary, architect, catalyst, and coach).

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Engineer III, are to:
- Manage assigned capital projects up to $1.0MM. The projects can be for any department at the site.
- Act as VACC (Visionary, Architect, Coach and Catalyst) for interdepartmental project teams.
- Develop capital project requirements, resource allocation and plans to meet capital program goals.
- Prepare and implement Installation and Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ) protocols for new equipment commissioning and qualification.
- Works closely with Reliability Engineers and Technical Supervisors to develop and deliver capital projects that are reliable and energy efficient.
- Provide technical input from the OEM for the Preventive Maintenance program for equipment that is purchased and installed as part of the project.
- Provide technical expertise to production management for equipment evaluation.
- Provide technical solutions to support process improvements, efficiencies, and cost savings.
- Audit equipment vendors, construction services and engineering contractors and make recommendations regarding in-house or external work.
- Prepare equipment specification documents and leads negotiations for new equipment purchases.
- Provide input for capital budget preparation.
- Balance the requirements of the customers and adjust priorities accordingly.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
- Experience should include a combination of project management along with a basic knowledge of PLC's, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronics, HVAC, fabrication, and/or industrial maintenance systems in a government regulated industry (Pharmaceutical or Consumer Care Industry experience preferred).
- Formal training in project management, such as coursework completed for PMP certification, is preferred.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and a systematic approach to problem definition and solution development required.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of personnel (i.e. hourly, site management, etc.) in a clear and concise manner required.
- Knowledge of operating within budgetary constraints required.
- Excellent leadership skills required.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and conflict in a positive manner utilizing appropriate interpersonal skills required.
- Willing to work extra or irregular hours required.
