Job Title: VMware Hypervisor Consultant

Location: O' Fallon, Missouri, Onsite 3-5 Days a Week

Pay Rate: $70/hr.

 

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced VMware Hypervisor Consultant to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in VMware hypervisor technologies, with hands-on experience in virtual machine migrations, vSAN, NSX, vCenter, and hardware infrastructure management. This role involves executing complex virtualization tasks, managing firmware and network updates, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless infrastructure operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage the full VMware hypervisor technology stack.
  • Perform virtual machine migrations, including vMotion and storage vMotion, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Execute compute, network, and firmware updates across environments.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the VMware NSX environment (mandatory).
  • Configure, install, and manage vSAN, including both ESA (Express Storage Architecture) and OSA (Original Storage Architecture).
  • Manage vCenter 8, including installations, maintenance, and version upgrades.
  • Perform host updates across 8x environments, ensuring system stability and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VMware hypervisors and vSAN.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage infrastructure-related projects.
  • Adhere to and manage change control processes throughout project lifecycle.
  • Provide support and maintenance for Dell and Cisco UCS hardware, including firmware upgrades and diagnostics.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a VMware Hypervisor Consultant or a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of VMware hypervisor technologies, including vSphere and vSAN.
  • Demonstrated experience with VM migrations and infrastructure updates.
  • Proficiency in vMotion, storage vMotion, and vSAN operations.
  • Solid understanding of NSX environments (required).
  • Familiarity with ESA and OSA storage architectures.
  • Experience in managing and upgrading vCenter 8 environments.
  • Expertise in applying host updates in enterprise-level infrastructure.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for virtual environments and hardware components.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project coordination skills.
  • Experience working with Dell and Cisco UCS hardware is highly preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • VMware certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP) are highly desirable.
