Job Description : We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled WebSphere Portal 9 Consultant to provide expert-level support, troubleshooting, and administration for our existing WebSphere Portal 9 environment. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert with deep hands-on experience in WebSphere Portal administration, development, and system integration. This is a remote, contract position focused on resolving critical issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring the stability of our portal infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to the WebSphere Portal 9 environment, including performance bottlenecks, application errors, connectivity problems, and security vulnerabilities.
Administration and Maintenance: Perform daily administration tasks, including applying fix packs, patches, and security updates to the WebSphere Portal and WebSphere Application Server.
Performance Tuning: Analyze system logs, application performance data, and configuration settings to identify and implement performance improvements for the portal and its underlying components.
Deployment and Release Management: Manage the deployment of portal applications, portlets, and content (WCM) across development, staging, and production environments.
Architecture and Integration: Provide expertise in integrating WebSphere Portal with other enterprise systems, such as databases, LDAP directories (e.g., Active Directory), and web servers (e.g., IBM HTTP Server, Apache).
Security: Implement and enforce security best practices within the portal, including configuring user roles, access control, and SSL certificates.
Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., using wsadmin, xmlaccess, Jacl/Jython) to streamline administrative tasks and deployments.
Documentation: Create and update technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as a WebSphere Portal Consultant or Administrator, with a minimum of [e.g., 5-7] years of hands-on experience with WebSphere Portal version 9.
Deep expertise in WebSphere Application Server (WAS) administration, including clustering, security configuration, and performance monitoring.
Strong knowledge of Web Content Management (WCM) within WebSphere Portal, including managing libraries, authoring templates, and workflows.
Experience with scripting languages for automation, such as wsadmin, Jython, or Jacl.
Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting issues using various tools and logs, including Portal logs, WebSphere logs, and network monitoring tools.
Solid understanding of related technologies, including LDAP, databases (e.g., DB2, Oracle), and web servers (IBM HTTP Server, Apache).
Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices in a WebSphere environment is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently to resolve complex issues.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
BonSoft Skills :
Experience with HCL Digital Experience (DX), the successor to IBM WebSphere Portal.
Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
WebSphere Application Server or Portal-related certifications.
