Job Description

Are you interested in building large-scale distributed infrastructure for the cloud? Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team is building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at large scale in a distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Join OCI Networking to build highly scalable and customizable services offering predictable and consistent performance, isolation, and availability.

;br>
The Virtual Networking organization sits at the heart of OCI's expansion, developing distributed systems that connect millions of compute instances across regions. Within it, the Card Services team leads pioneering work to reinvent how Oracle builds and operates new cloud regions. We're creating the frameworks and automation that make regional expansion faster, safer, and more intelligent. We are building a global platform that powers mission-critical workloads for some of the world's most trusted enterprises - and we're growing faster than ever.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help shape that vision. You'll design and lead development of highly scalable, distributed systems that orchestrate large fleets and virtual networks across OCI. You'll work on greenfield initiatives, partner closely with senior leadership, and influence how Oracle Cloud grows for years to come.

We are scaling the existing platforms to the hyper scale with an experienced team that values creativity, empathy, and technical depth. If you're fascinated by scale, driven by curiosity, and motivated by seeing your ideas become global infrastructure, you'll feel right at home here.

Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, and build large-scale distributed systems that enable rapid region builds and network orchestration across OCI.
  • Drive greenfield development of services and frameworks that simplify complex networking challenges at scale.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams from OCI to design unified, automated, and observable systems.
  • Lead technical direction for high-impact projects, mentoring engineers and shaping design reviews with simplicity and resilience in mind.
  • Improve service reliability, latency, and operational automation through intelligent tooling, metrics, and self-healing systems.
  • Partner with senior leadership to influence architectural strategy and guide OCI's region-build roadmap.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability - where people take pride in building things that matter.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5-8 years of experience building and scaling distributed systems or cloud infrastructure services.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one major language such as Java, Python, or Go.
  • Deep understanding of system design, service orchestration, and distributed computing fundamentals.
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and observability frameworks for large-scale services.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional technical direction and deliver measurable outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in CI/CD environments
  • Experience with Agile Development
  • Prior cloud experience
