Job Details

Sentinel is seeking a strategic and visionary Director of IT Engineering & Technical Services to lead our clients network and telecommunications functions across their enterprise. This high-impact role will oversee three direct reports and play a critical part in shaping a world-class technical services department for the Chicago area.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in networking and telecommunications, along with a proven ability to drive strategic planning, financial discipline, and talent development. You ll be responsible for the full lifecycle of technical solutions from architecture and deployment to optimization and disaster recovery ensuring secure, high-performance systems that support operational excellence.

This is a unique opportunity to influence digital transformation at scale, collaborate with executive leadership, and foster innovation that enhances customer and user experiences. Strong communication skills, vendor management experience, and a passion for continuous improvement are essential.
This position can be Direct Hire or Contract-to-Hire and located at any of the three facilities in the Chicago area Arlington Heights, Skokie or Warrenville, IL.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years managing processes, applications, or systems in healthcare or related industries.
  • At least 6 years of leadership experience in a relevant technical or operational role.
  • Preferred: 10+ years in an integrated healthcare delivery system or similar environment.
  • Preferred: 8+ years of leadership experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Proven experience contributing to enterprise-wide technology strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects efficiently.
  • Strong technical acumen and understanding of information processing best practices.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with vendor relationship management.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, PCI).
  • Familiarity with AI technologies, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform), and automation tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of SaaS, hosting platforms, and infrastructure systems (e.g., Windows Platform Engineering).
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical accountability, innovation, and team engagement.
  • The candidate must have a car, as this position requires travel between location and the transportation of equipment
  • A valid driver s license and proof of vehicle insurance will be required
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Must demonstrate a can-do attitude

Compensation Range:

Director of IT Engineering and Technology - $150,000-$240,000
