Cybersecurity Engineer

Our client is seeking a strategic-minded security engineer to lead detection engineering and SIEM operations while serving as a key escalation point for partners. This is a high-impact role that blends technical oversight, mentorship, and detection engineering perfect for someone who enjoys enabling others while shaping the future of enterprise-scale threat monitoring.


  • Location: Remote Will work CST hours
  • Compensation: $60-68/hour W2
  • Duration: 6 month contract-to-hire

What You ll Do:


  • Serve as the escalation point for SIEM and SOAR operations
  • Guide detection engineering efforts, including alert creation, tuning, and lifecycle management in Splunk.
  • Provide mentorship to junior analysts and help improve triage processes across teams.
  • Oversee and influence the direction of Google Chronicle / SecOps automation efforts.
  • Participate in after-hours calls when critical SIEM issues or escalations arise.

What Gets You the Job:


  • Proven experience with Splunk in a SIEM environment (SME-level preferred).
  • Working knowledge of detection engineering, alerting logic, and program lifecycle development.
  • Familiarity with SOAR tools such as Google Chronicle or other automation platforms.
  • Understanding security operations and triage processes with an analyst mindset.
  • Python scripting experience (nice to have, especially with SOAR environments).
