Job Description

Visa USA Inc., a Visa Inc. company, needs a Sr. Data Engineer (multiple openings) in Austin, TX to:
  • Architect, design, build, develop, test, and/or implement software systems and/or applications.
  • Conduct business and technical analysis, code reviews and unit testing, and implement and produce technical documentation of solutions for new development, system enhancements, and production support.
  • Design, develop and implement modifications and corrections to existing software, including the development of debugging routines.
  • Serve as an integral part of the Data Science product development team, investigate new requirements, and design and refactor existing functionality for performance and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Developers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure development and implementation of new data driven business solutions.
  • Contribute in delivery of high quality solutions that conform to requirements and the architectural vision, and comply with all applicable standards.
  • Engage in requirements definition and clarification in collaboration with Business to ensure completeness and common understanding; deep understanding of the business needs is important.
  • Facilitate design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.
  • Facilitate code reviews with team members and third party vendors.
  • Review and assess impact of proposed scope changes on assigned deliverables.
  • Work with other engineering teams to facilitate a common approach to continuous integration that includes build automation, test automation, and deployment automation.
  • Collaborate with senior technical staff and PM to identify, document, plan contingency, and track and manage risks and issues until all are resolved.
  • Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.
  • Position reports to the Austin, Texas office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information systems or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related data engineer, systems engineer or technical analyst occupation.

Position requires experience in the following skills:
  • Development utilizing Java or J2EE, and Java Web Application framework, including Spring, Hibernate and Data JPA;
  • Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD) automation frameworks, including Junit, TestNG, Behave and Selenium;
  • UX, front-end frameworks and technologies, including Angular, React, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, Backbone.js, Emberjs, Bootstrap and CSS;
  • Developing and testing native mobile applications & relevant solutions.
  • Bigdata technology stack, including Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, Pig, Impala, and Kafka;
  • DBMS and NoSQL;
  • Query tuning using SQL, PL/SQL, Hive QL, or SparkSQL;
  • Using statistical computer programs for Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Deep learning and natural language processing, including Python, Tensorflow, SkLearn, SOLAR, SAS and MatLab;
  • Edge computing, Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud services to design and develop platform for real-time streaming analytics;
  • SQL and NoSQL;
  • XML, JSON, Rest, and SOAP;
  • Software Design patterns and advanced algorithms.

Additional Information

Worksite:Austin, TX

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $116,500.00 USD to $180,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
