Job Description

The Pennsylvania Office of Administration (OA), Bureau of Infrastructure, is seeking a Network Engineer to support the Edge Networking team for multiple Commonwealth agencies. This position provides advanced technical support in planning, designing, maintaining, and integrating LAN/WAN enterprise network infrastructure.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled, hands-on network engineer with strong expertise in switching, routing, SD-WAN, and network troubleshooting in large-scale environments. CCNA/CCNP certifications are preferred but not required if equivalent experience is demonstrated.

Key Responsibilities

Network Engineering & Support

• Install, configure, maintain, and manage network infrastructure including:

  • Switches, routers, firewalls

  • SD-WAN edge appliances

  • Wireless and cellular-based devices

• Perform network troubleshooting using industry tools to diagnose complex issues.

• Provide Tier-2 support for network incidents affecting statewide systems.

Design, Planning & Architecture

• Assist in planning and designing LAN/WAN network architectures.

• Perform bandwidth and capacity analysis.

• Create and update engineering diagrams and specifications.

• Support planned deployments, upgrades, and change management activities.

Operational Duties

• Work with ServiceNow/Remedy tickets — document, track, and resolve incidents.

• Identify and remediate issues related to network dependencies and performance.

• Support IT, operational staff, and remote teams with network-related challenges.

• Ensure network compliance with OA security standards.

Documentation & Collaboration

• Create and maintain Visio network diagrams.

• Document network configurations, installations, and operational procedures.

• Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and agency partners.

Additional Requirements

• Hands-on experience in enterprise network environments.

• Strong understanding of routing protocols and network architecture.

• Experience with network monitoring and automation tools.

• Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs and work from a stepladder (as needed).

• Must possess a valid PA driver’s license.

• Must obtain and maintain CJIS clearance.
