DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead our safety initiatives and ensure a safe, compliant, and healthy work environment. This role is critical to maintaining our commitment to employee well-being and regulatory excellence. You will oversee all aspects of safety from OSHA compliance and training to incident investigation and budget management.
Safety Manager will have 2 direct reports safety specialist & hourly safety technician, and the training coordinator to report to this role as well in the near future.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor s degree and 5+ years of safety leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA standards, and Workers Compensation laws.
- Proven experience in hazard recognition, incident investigation, and case management.
- Certified in First Aid, AED, and CPR.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with plant leadership.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10 days/year).
- Needs to have organization skills, attention to detail, needs strong leadership, ability to drive the Health & Safety programs.
- Will partner with the Environmental Manager as well as the Facility Nurse on driving the safety culture in the plant. This person will be hands-on, be comfortable on the plant floor engaging with the workforce.
ROLE:
- Lead Safety Programs: Develop, implement, and continuously improve regulatory and company safety programs (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI).
- Policy Management: Create, review, and enforce plant safety policies and procedures.
- Training Oversight: Assign, track, and report on all regulatory and safety training across the facility.
- Workers Compensation: Manage cases including doctor visits, light duty assignments, reporting, and financial forecasting.
- Hazard Identification: Train employees, conduct audits, develop corrective actions, and monitor progress.
- Budget Control: Oversee the health & safety budget including PPE, supplies, and first aid resources.
- Reporting: Prepare and present weekly/monthly safety performance reports.
- Incident Response: Serve as Medical First Responder and lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and case management.
- Change Management: Conduct safety reviews for Management of Change processes.
