Job Overview:

We are currently seeking to fill a full-time position for a Sr Network Security Engineer within the Security Architecture Engineering: Network Security team, part of LPL's Technology Cybersecurity organization. This individual will focus on complex, enterprise level security and networking projects. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded security-focused background, demonstrated IT security and architecture expertise, as well as the ability to autonomously manage projects. This individual will interface with others within the IT organization, as well as other internal business units and partners. They will create and maintain functional and technical design specifications, documentation, and solution diagrams to satisfy security project requirements.

The resource will report to the VPII of Security Architecture Engineering and will be an involved member of the Network Security team. The individual fulfilling this role must display an in-depth understanding of new trends and technologies related to security and networking and contribute to the firm's IT security strategy and roadmap.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage secure network architectures to protect organizational data and systems.
  • Update URL and content filtering policies; troubleshoot application issues arising from SSL decryption and web proxies.
  • Assist with network security gap analysis, control mapping, and process development.
  • Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and respond to security incidents.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability testing to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Implement and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security technologies.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure security measures are integrated into all aspects of the organization.
  • Provide guidance and training to employees on security best practices and awareness.
  • Stay up to date with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies.
  • Perform security audits and compliance checks to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate and respond to security breaches, including conducting forensic analysis.
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans and conduct regular drills.
  • Manage and maintain security infrastructure, including VPNs, proxies, and encryption technologies.
  • Coordinate with external security vendors and consultants as needed.
  • Prepare and present security reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

What are we looking for?

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of hands-on design, configuration, and deployment experience in network security solutions
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with NGFW (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco)
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with NDR solutions (e.g. Darktrace, Corelight, Extrahop)
  • 4+ years' experience collaborating with technical team members, business analysts, and project/program managers to ensure a quality solution is delivered.
  • 4+ years' experience with Scripting tools (Curl, Python, Glue, Powershell)

Preferences:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Excellent ability to document and diagram solutions and infrastructure.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to identify root causes of issues and provide solutions.
  • Experience with software including Jira, Confluence, Microsoft O365.
  • Strong knowledge of IT networking and infrastructure.

Pay Range:
$97,725-$162,875/year
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
