General Summary:
Performs a variety of engineering design/check/review and supervisory functions.

Performs a variety of engineering design/check/review and supervisory functions.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform highway/structure engineering design functions without supervision and guidance, including engineering computations, specifications, cost estimates, checking, reviewing, report writing, etc.
- Directly assist Project Engineers and Work Group Leaders on all projects.
- Demonstrate and promote accountability.
- Conduct and/or assist in visits to project sites, project status meetings, and public meetings.
- Mentor less experienced staff.
- ssist in developing the skills and knowledge of coworkers.
- ssist with preparation of proposals, letters of interest, supplements, etc.
- ssist in preparation of specifications.
- Review design and/or shop drawings.
- Implement project work plan.
- Keep up to date with new design technology, construction equipment, and bridge design/construction advancements.
- ttend field views and meetings as required to provide technical input.
- Provide design support for workshare with other offices.
- May act as Work Group Leader on minor projects or portions of larger projects.
- May perform bridge inspection (structures group) as abilities permit.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of PennDOT and other clients' design manuals, procedures, specifications, standards, computer programs, applicable design codes, engineering software, and plan presentation format.
- Knowledge of Design Procedures.
- Knowledge of technical report writing.
- bility to use computer software and other online resources.
- Knowledge of Bentley MicroStation design software.
- bility to perform complex design tasks independently.
- ssist in the preparation of specifications.

- bility to travel with infrequent overnight stays.

- Knowledge of construction techniques for highways/structures.
- Skilled in using word processing, spreadsheet applications, Bluebeam, and "MATHCAD."
- bility to assemble Design Criteria, L/G/T, DFV design submissions.
- bility to assemble Pro-Team, TS&L, and Foundation Submissions.
- bility/experience to perform all Team Leader functions.
- BS degree in civil engineering.
- PE license and minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible design experience.
- Minimum ten (10) years of progressively responsible design experience with no PE license.
- ttain training prerequisites according to SAI schedules.
- Reports to Department Manager.
- Works with other Engineers, Inspectors, Designers, and Draftspersons.
- Receives assignments from Department Manager, Project Managers, and Project Engineers.
- Receives guidance from Work Group Leaders.
- Provides guidance to Engineers, Inspectors, Designers, and Draftspersons.
