Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Advanced Information Technologist - Data Engineer to join our growing Data Analytics Engineering & Integration team in Ridley Park, PA, Seattle, WA, Arlington, VA or Hazelwood, MO!
This team is tasked with transforming the way BDS data is sourced, managed, and utilized to unlock insights to drive business growth and optimization. The team supports data needs for internal stakeholders, across BDS business programs and functions, and is tasked with utilizing data to inform and improve the full lifecycle of BDS products.
As an Advanced Information Technologist - Data Engineer, you will be a thought leader in how to design, implement, manage, and scale data pipelines in support of the BDS Data Analytics Platform leveraging modern cloud architecture design, hybrid cloud technologies, data migration technologies, and others. You will be responsible for crafting data pipelines, and deploying them in a cloud infrastructure.
This role requires a resourceful, self-driven, outcome-oriented individual with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to partner, execute, and communicate skillfully, while solving complex problems in dynamic environments. The ideal candidate will have experience with large scale data platforms, cloud computing, hybrid clouds, software development, and requirements management.
Position Responsibilities:
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform 1 day per week onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Position Responsibilities:
- Participates in all aspects of agile software development, including design, implementation, and deployment.
- Design, develop, and deploy modular data pipelines
- Develop and maintain cloud software and solutions in accordance with best practices
- Ensure efficient functioning of data storage and process functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security
- Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements
- Interact with clients, provide cloud support, and make recommendations based on client needs

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Technical Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, building pipelines in AWS Glue or relational databases
- 2+ Experience with version control, Gitlab, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- 3+ Experience with Spark and other big data processing frameworks.
- Proficiency in languages such as Python and SQL.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Aurora)
- Experience of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools like Informatica or AWS Glue
- Experience with IaaC and tools such as Terraform
- Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications
- Experience with cross-functional collaboration
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with AWS GovCloud
- Experience in the aviation industry or other regulated industries
- Experience of working within a multinational matrix management environment / structure and a large-scale, sophisticated international organization
