Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing Delta Township on a full-time basis.

The Role:

The Launch Electrical Process and In-Process Tester role is the key person during launch to ensure all manufacturing requirements, best practices, and Electrical Bill of Operations (BoO) elements are implemented. This person will also ensure the in-process testers are successfully executed. This role participates in the GM Automotive Manufacturing Electrical College (AMEC) for thorough training before launch activities begin.

The GM Automotive Manufacturing Electrical College, or AMEC, is an immersive training program that provides participants the opportunity to train in both classroom and hands-on settings for future employment on a Launch Electrical Team at one of GM's vehicle assembly facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a member of the plant's Electrical Team - an integrated, technical organization consisting of members from Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Quality and Product Development organizations focused on problem solving the plant's top external and internal quality problems. Report to the Lead Launch Electrical Coordinator within that team.
  • Ensure compliance to the Electrical Bill of Operations (BoO) standards
  • Drive corrective actions for electrical process issues and in-process tester issues
  • Complete required training at various sites around GM and suppliers. (Travel required in this role).
  • Participate in applicable launch activities such as virtual, prototype, and validation builds to ensure development and implementation of electrical processes within the vehicle assembly plant (and Value-Added Assembly (VAA) plants). Understand the build process and integrate electrical best practices and standards throughout General Assembly
  • Work with supplier and Manufacturing Engineering Vehicle Systems (MEVS) to develop in-process electrical testers, providing product information and developing supplier timeline
  • Complete tester validation at your site and VAA sites to ensure all possible connections can be detected
  • Run dedicated Electrical 5F process for in plant tester station (VAA will be responsible for their test station and present data to GM)
  • Take ownership of BoO Elements for plant electrical training and training the VAA plants on Electrical BoO processes


Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or technology, or any realeated experience as process engineer in manufacturing enviroments
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, particularly to translate highly complex technical issues to non-technical people
  • Self-motivated and innovative
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Able to make decisions quickly with a high level of confidence
  • Ability to work an off-shift and over-time as required


What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Minimum 3 years previous experience with automotive electrical sub-systems
  • E xperience working in a manufacturing environment as a process engineer
  • Thorough working knowledge of GMS and supporting BIQ4 Deliverables
