TalentFish is casting a line for a IAM Technical Lead / Manager (Okta). This is a remote Contract To Hire role that will convert to full-time permanent hire after 3-6 months.
This role requires a strong hands-on technical background. The ideal candidate will be comfortable writing scripts/code, configuring Okta integrations via APIs, debugging live issues when needed, and mentoring a small team through implementation tasks. This is not a hands-off management role.
Overview
- The IAM Technical Lead / Manager is both a strategic leader and hands-on engineer. This role will be the technical owner of our Okta platform leading SSO, MFA, and Workday integrations while managing a small team of IAM engineers.
- Candidates must be comfortable writing scripts, working with APIs, and guiding architectural decisions across the IAM Okta platform.
- You will be responsible for leading all access management functions, with a strong emphasis on managing the Okta platform and a small team of IAM engineers.
- This role will define and execute the overall IAM strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- The Manager will oversee the implementation and governance of access controls, compliance processes, and security standards, while driving operational efficiency across IAM operations.
- Reporting to the Director of IAM, this role will collaborate with cross-functional leaders to coordinate enterprise-wide initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in IAM technologies including SSO, MFA, federation, and passwordless authentication as well as proven leadership in both people and process management.
Job Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related area (Master's degree preferred).
- 8-12 years of experience in Systems and Information Security administration.
- 3 + years experience with designing, implementing, and managing Okta.
- 5 + years experience in designing, implementing, and managing IAM solutions.
- Hands-on technical expertise implementing Okta IAM solution including Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Passwordless, and Adaptive Security modules.
- Experience integrating Okta with systems like Workday is strongly desired.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills required.
- People management experience leading IAM engineers and product owners.
- Strong IT background and in-depth Identity and Access Management knowledge.
- Experience troubleshooting system failures, identifying root cause, fixing issues, and ensuring the availability and integrity of systems.
- Experience managing large-scale Identity and Access Management solutions and operations.
- Experience developing large-scale Identity and Access Management programs and governance.
- Experience with IT Security and related technologies (e.g. IGA, SSO, ADFS, MFA, etc.).
- Has built / maintained effective relationships with internal / external teams & vendors.
- Excellent understanding of IT security and risk management, strategic planning, and related tactical initiatives.
- Thorough understanding of Information Security frameworks and best practices (e.g. HIPAA, PCI, SOX, ISO, NIST).
What You'll Do
- Leads the development of the overall approach for the IAM and access management program, its major time frames and the definition of its major deliverables to address and meet the desired goals and outcomes.
- Manage the implementation and administration of the various IAM platforms and integrations e.g., Okta, Ping, Microsoft Entra ID, etc.
- Foster strong collaboration with IT, security teams, and cross-functional leadership to ensure seamless integration of access management tools with existing systems.
- Partners with the executive sponsor to communicate program goals, objectives, and potential outcomes.
- Leads regular interactions with the executive sponsor to inform, alert, negotiate and maintain a continuing good relationship and shared vision for the program outcome.
- Establishes and ensures appropriate governance functions for the program in accordance with enterprise policies, practices and on behalf of the executive sponsor or senior responsible owner.
- Directs the creation and maintenance of the required program documentation and artifacts
- Develops and controls the program budget and manages expenditure within agreed spending plans.
- Ensures and balances the availability of the required skills and competencies across project teams within the program.
- Leads reviews with the executive sponsor and stakeholders to identify organic or specific program needs and changes and directs the development of appropriate approaches to address.
- Leads the development and maintenance of stakeholder mapping, communications and reporting.
- Acts as an advisor and builds and maintains relationships across the wider stakeholder community.
- Leads the oversight of program projects' execution, their progress compared with the plan and the production of agreed deliverables.
- Directs or approves the establishment of a framework or guidelines for the use of contractors and professional service providers and determines their use across the program.
- Supports and facilitates agenda setting for program committee/board meetings.
- Develop an IAM Governance Model to support healthcare regulations and controls.
- Assures compliance to Corporate and Information Security policies, standards and procedures.
- Standardize global IAM processes and ensure alignment of processes to IAM policies and standards.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders to identify and resolve business issues.
- Champion all aspects of the IAM Program, including the business value, ownership of the roadmap, project milestones and key messaging to business and IT.
- Partners with strategic vendors and manages relationship with key resources to ensure optimal service levels and works with procurement on contractual requirements.
- Manage and implement procedures to control information workflows for the addition, modification and removal of user access across in-scope platforms and applications.
- Provide advisory and consultation to system development projects around IAM requirements and controls.
- Responsible for the achievement of department productivity and quality goals.
- Determine staffing requirements and delegate work duties to staff to attain objectives.
- Participate in audits and other compliance assessment activities as needed to assist with meeting compliance deadlines.
- Analyze/resolve complex authentication, authorization, integration, automation issues.
- Provide guidance on integration of IAM & authorization framework into new and existing applications.
- Manage and track the progress of IAM projects; project management and administration including work plans, project track, resource planning and control, writing status reports and conducting regular project reviews.
- Facilitate and coordinate tasks for successfully analyzing, designing, developing, and implementing Okta integrations.
- Managing performance, providing feedback, and conducting regular performance reviews of IAM team members including IAM engineers, product owners, etc.
Compensation and Employment
This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship. This is a Contract to Permanent Hire position. The salary range is $150K - $180K per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
