Work Location: Albany, NY [Initial 8 weeks probationary period Onsite, and later allowed to work remotely, but no more than 50% during any work week.] :-- Basically, it's hybrid role. Initial 8 weeks on site then its Hybrid role.
Duration: 4 years contract.

We are seeking an experienced Java Architect to join a high-performing Business Analysis and Reporting Team. The consultant will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise applications using Java technologies. The role involves collaborating with technical leads, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to established standards, Java frameworks, and design patterns.
- Design user interfaces, system architecture, and detailed application designs.
- Develop and maintain Java application code, perform unit and integration testing.
- Identify reusable components and services; create deployment scripts and technical documentation.
- Conduct systems analysis and design to enhance performance and functionality.
- Develop test plans; debug and resolve application issues.
- Collaborate with business analysts and end users to gather requirements and propose solutions.
- Maintain and update technical project plans.
- Report task status and issues to team leads and management.
- Ensure all development adheres to secure coding practices; participate in security testing.
- Perform code reviews and evaluate system defects, proposing and coordinating solutions.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
- Support data analytics and reporting initiatives.
- Document all development and integration work for current and future enterprise application use.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in developing and implementing Java J2SE/EE applications in a WebSphere environment.
- 10+ years of experience as a software/solutions architect for Java-based WebSphere systems.
- 10+ years of experience working in Agile development environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience developing with Apache Wicket in a production environment.
- 2+ year of experience developing with Angular in a production environment.
- 5+ years of experience integrating FileNet for document management using web services.
- 3+ years of experience implementing SOAP-based web services using Apache CXF or JAX-WS.
- 7+ years of experience using both Spring and Hibernate frameworks.
- 7+ years of experience mentoring junior developers in Java technologies.
- 7+ years of Java development experience using the Apache Struts framework.
- Additional years beyond the required minimum in developing Java J2SE/EE applications in WebSphere.
