Scala Developer

JOB SUMMARY We are seeking a highly skilled and inquisitive Scala Developer to join our global development team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from bond position management and risk models to distributed calculation infrastructure and workflow automation. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing our advanced Scala-based systems, integrating with Java-based platforms, and collaborating with teams across Fixed Income, Equities, and Corporate Finance. The role involves close collaboration with trading desks, providing real-time systems solutions, and exposure to cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic, multicultural environment. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications in Scala (or equivalent functional programming languages). Focus on bond position management, risk models, and their integration with enterprise systems. Contribute to infrastructure components including distribution, caching, and workflow automation. Develop GUI components to empower users to view and manage data efficiently. Work on additional financial products and extend system functionalities. Troubleshoot production issues, conduct performance profiling, and implement system tuning. Collaborate with global teams across multiple business areas to deliver integrated solutions. Interact directly with trading desks to support real-time operations. Gain and apply financial product knowledge, particularly in Fixed Income and bond-related products. Ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and continuous integration processes. Required Qualifications Strong proficiency in Scala or exceptional expertise in Kotlin, Clojure, or OCaml. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven experience in performance tuning and system optimization. Ability to navigate and contribute to large, complex codebases. Solid understanding of data structures, design patterns, multi-threaded programming, and distributed computing. Experience with continuous integration pipelines and tools. Preferred Qualifications Financial knowledge, particularly in bonds or Fixed Income products. Hands-on experience with real-time systems and technologies such as Kafka and Zookeeper. Experience in GUI development for data visualization and management. Certifications None required; relevant financial or technical certifications are a plus. Education Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
