Job Summary:
The Materials Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of materials management at our manufacturing facility. This role will report to the Operations Director and will oversee all supply chain operations, including procurement, inventory control, logistics, and warehousing.

The Materials Manager will also work closely with other departments such as engineering, quality assurance, and finance to ensure smooth operations and efficient processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Procurement and Inventory Management: Oversee all procurement activities, ensuring timely delivery of raw materials and components to meet production demands. Implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels, minimize waste, and reduce costs.
  • Logistics and Warehouse Operations: Coordinate with external logistics providers to manage transportation and distribution of goods. Ensure proper storage conditions, accurate labeling, and timely shipment of products. Supervise warehouse staff, implementing procedures for receiving, storing, and dispatching materials.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline supply chain processes, reducing lead times and improving efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and cost savings initiatives.
  • Quality Assurance: Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure adherence to quality standards throughout the supply chain. Implement quality control measures during incoming material inspection, production, and final product testing.
  • Financial Management: Monitor and analyze material costs, inventory levels, and operational expenses related to materials management. Develop financial reports and budgets to track performance metrics and make informed decisions.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the materials team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. Mentor and develop team members professionally, addressing their concerns and contributing to their personal growth.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry best practices related to materials management. Ensure compliance with local laws, international regulations, and internal policies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, including engineering, production, quality assurance, finance, and human resources, to align materials management goals with overall organizational objectives.
  • Problem Solving: Address any challenges or disruptions in the supply chain, proactively identifying solutions to mitigate risks and maintain operational continuity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the materials department, promoting innovative ideas and lean practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.


Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in materials management roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, inventory management systems, and supply chain optimization techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing supply chain challenges.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance principles and compliance requirements.
  • Leadership experience with a proven track record of mentoring and developing team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing setting in Mexico would be advantageous.
