Job Details

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Sr./Lead UX Designer for a direct placement assignment with one of our premier financial services clients in Jersey City, NJ.

Responsibilities :
  • Become part of a team of talented designers to flawlessly execute projects within the Data Catalog. We are building new research, discovery, and connecting users with data. We offer a creative, fast paced, entrepreneurial work environment where you'll be the center of the Data Catalog innovation.
  • The Data Catalog is a centralized metadata solution to be leveraged by up to 3,000 applications to store, govern, and access metadata for their systems. Metadata includes the information about the data stored and used by an application, such as data dictionaries, data models, data lineage between systems, etc. This information is essential to promote knowledge sharing and transfer by interested parties, and to ensure compliance with Data Governance policies set by firm's Chief Data Office. Beyond supporting data discovery, the Data Catalog tools, and standardized metadata are systemically consumed and used to drive data transfer in multiple formats between systems within the firm, as well as externally to Cloud-based solutions used by firm's clients.
  • Collaborate and work closely with the senior designer, product management, business analysts, finance teams, and the development teams to craft industry-leading user experiences-from concept to execution. Like all our UX jobs, you'll collaborate with your design partners to leverage and evolve the Data Catalog design language to build beautiful, innovative, inspired user interfaces that people love to use.
  • Design seamless and visually compelling user interfaces for our metadata and data catalog platforms, ensuring a consistent and on-brand experience across all platforms.
  • Utilize wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to bring concepts to life, focusing on usability and aesthetic appeal.
  • Perform UX research, including user interviews, surveys, and analysis of user interaction data, to refine user personas, journey maps, and inform design direction.
  • Engage in usability testing, gather user feedback, and iterate designs to enhance user satisfaction.
  • Maintain and evolve our design guidelines to ensure firm's brand consistency.
  • Present design concepts to stakeholders, providing insight into your design process and demonstrating how your work aligns with user needs and business goals.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in research, UX design, and technology to continuously improve our user interfaces.
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design (e.g. Interaction, Visual Communications, Illustrator), Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 4-6 years of experience in UX/UI design with a proven track-record of stability and progressive growth.
  • A compelling online portfolio that demonstrates your expertise
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Zeplin, etc).
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where fire-drill assignments are not uncommon.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs.
  • Organized, possessing a data and system-driven mindset and approach to work.
  • Keen ability to distinguish the signal from noise.
  • Proficient in leading project management tools to support software development activities.
  • Puts the project and team as a priority.
