Job Overview:

We are seeking motivated Junior Java Developers to join a fast-paced, mission-critical project supporting Missouri s Medicaid Eligibility Determination and Enrollment System (MEDES). This role is ideal for early-career developers with 1 2 years of Java experience who are eager to gain hands-on experience in health and human services technology and be trained on IBM s Cram Social Program Management (SPM) platform. You will receive targeted, in-project training in Cram and work alongside experienced developers and analysts in support of a large-scale, long-term public health IT system.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, code, and test Java-based solutions that support eligibility and enrollment workflows
  • Participate in system enhancements, bug fixes, and new feature development within the MEDES environment
  • Work with senior developers and technical leads to integrate IBM Cram components
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, testers, and project managers
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups
  • Assist in maintaining technical documentation and support materials

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 1 2 years of professional Java development experience
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL (e.g., DB2, Oracle, or PostgreSQL)
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to learn IBM Cram SPM and work in a public-sector enterprise environment
  • Must be willing and able to work onsite full-time in Jefferson City, MO

Preferred:

  • Exposure to enterprise systems in healthcare, public sector, or social services
  • Experience with JSP, XML, or web-based user interface technologies
  • Knowledge of Agile or iterative development methodologies
