Job Details

Our client is a leading provider of building technologies and energy solutions, delivering integrated systems that support security, life safety, and energy management for commercial customers across North America. Now backed by a global technology powerhouse, they are actively modernizing their own infrastructure while continuing to deliver innovative solutions to customers.

The Opportunity

This is not a “keep the lights on” IT role. We’re looking for a network-focused engineer with a systems integrator mindset to join on a contract-to-hire basis. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in diverse environments, enjoys solving problems in real-time, and can bridge the gap between traditional IT networking and operational technology (OT) systems.

You’ll be responsible for two critical areas:

  1. Customer Integration: Deploy and integrate OT solutions (access control, surveillance, energy management) into a wide variety of customer network environments. Every project is different — you’ll encounter different stacks, quirks, and challenges that require flexibility and creativity.

  2. Internal Transformation: Support ongoing network migration projects as the organization transitions from legacy infrastructure into a global enterprise backbone, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.

This is a role for someone who likes building, not babysitting — someone energized by new challenges and the opportunity to make disparate systems work together.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as the networking lead for deploying and integrating OT systems into customer environments.

  • Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, and wireless systems across heterogeneous stacks.

  • Navigate and configure non-standard OT devices (web UIs, proprietary control panels, limited interfaces).

  • Partner with customer IT/security teams to ensure reliable, secure connectivity between OT and IT systems.

  • Support backend migration projects aligning legacy systems with global enterprise standards.

  • Document architectures, share knowledge, and mentor junior administrators.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, security, and facilities teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • 6+ years in network engineering with exposure across multiple stacks (not just one ecosystem).

  • Background in systems integration, field engineering, or industrial/OT environments highly preferred.

  • Proven ability to work in ambiguous, variable environments and deliver results.

  • Hands-on expertise with firewalls, VPNs, switching, routing, and wireless infrastructure.

  • Experience configuring or supporting OT devices (access control, surveillance, EMS, IoT-like systems).

  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Self-starter who enjoys problem-solving in complex, non-standard environments.

  • Relevant certifications (CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft, etc.) are a plus but not required.

Why Join

  • Work on cutting-edge projects at the intersection of IT networking and OT systems.

  • Be part of a company that is both modernizing internally and innovating for customers.

  • Collaborate with passionate teams in an environment that values flexibility, problem-solving, and hands-on engineering.
