Position Title: Database Technical Lead - Senior

Location: Northern Virginia (Quantico-Stafford); Remote possible

Role:

We are seeking a certified Senior-Level Database Technical Lead with experience in MarkLogic and certification. The work supports a multi-year project to sustain and develop a cloud-based information management system for a Department of Defense customer.

Duties:

  • Lead database architecture, design, and optimization for Marine Corps Technical Data Management systems.
  • Ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability across structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Oversee database integration with Business Process Management (BPM) platforms (Appian) and enterprise applications.
  • Ensure compliance with Marine Corps cybersecurity, data governance, and interoperability standards.
  • Mentor database developers and oversee database development practices.
  • Work closely with the Government engineering and architecture team, and the PMT to ensure NoSQL database implementation standards across one or more ADTs.
  • Provide input, review, and oversight on strategic execution and targeted activities.
  • Develop the database design commensurate with the application design.
  • Perform design reviews of implementations.
  • Collaborate with the hosting site manager to install, configure, and accredit the database.
  • Manage the NoSQL resources deployed to the project; and
  • Identify and mitigate risks to the project.
  • Additional duties assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Database Engineering/ Management, or related field (master s degree preferred).

Certifications:

  • MarkLogic Certified Developer certification.

Experience Requirements:

  • 8+ years of database development and administration experience.
  • 5+ years of noSQL database and rapid application development using MarkLogic.
  • 5+ years as a technical lead for enterprise database systems, preferably in DoD environments.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of schema-less data models and distributed databases.
  • Expertise in database performance tuning, backup, recovery, and high availability.
  • Experience integrating NoSQL with BPM and enterprise applications.
  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
