Description
We are looking for a highly experienced Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead a critical evaluation of IT systems and operations within a higher education environment. This contract position requires a strategic leader who can identify inefficiencies, recommend cost-effective solutions, and oversee the implementation of optimized IT systems. This is a remote position and offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with both internal teams and external vendors to drive transformative improvements in technology and operations.
Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive assessment of IT systems, including payroll, enterprise software, and technology infrastructure, within a higher education organization.
Identify redundancies and inefficiencies in the current technology stack and propose cost-saving measures.
Provide detailed recommendations for modernizing and streamlining IT operations to enhance functionality and reduce costs.
Perform cost evaluations and analyses of existing systems, focusing on overlap and operational redundancies.
Collaborate with internal IT teams and external vendors to implement recommended changes effectively.
Manage the evaluation project within tight deadlines, ensuring decisions are delivered by the set timeline.
Work closely with stakeholders to optimize and streamline systems such as Moodle, Microsoft 365, Windows, Illusion Colleague, and Oracle.
Oversee the implementation and optimization of recommended IT solutions over several months.
Ensure seamless communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams during the project.
Provide strategic leadership to ensure IT systems align with organizational goals and long-term sustainability.
Requirements
Extensive experience in IT consulting for higher education institutions, with a proven track record in leadership roles.
Demonstrated expertise in evaluating and streamlining technology stacks and operations within the last 3-4 years.
In-depth knowledge of higher education IT systems, operational environments, and best practices in a post-pandemic context.
Proficiency in SaaS platforms, ERP systems, and enterprise IT solutions widely utilized in higher education.
Strong background in collaborating with external vendors to implement and optimize IT systems.
Exceptional ability to identify inefficiencies and introduce effective solutions to streamline IT operations.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
Proven ability to work with internal IT teams to ensure minimal disruption during system evaluations and implementations.
