Overview
The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), Office of Information Technology Services (OITS), is seeking an experienced Network Engineer (Advanced) to support daily operations, engineering, maintenance, and enhancement of the agency s network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in enterprise networking, cloud networking, security, and voice systems, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
Education (Required)
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field,OR equivalent work experience.
Scope of Services
This position provides advanced-level support and engineering services for DCF s networking environment. The selected candidate will work under the OITS team and deliver services aligned with the Florida DMS State Term Contract for IT Staff Augmentation Services.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with technical teams to plan, forecast, and identify resource requirements for network systems, including wireless networks of moderate complexity.
Participate in designing and developing network architecture and engineering solutions.
Integrate communication architectures, hardware, software, topologies, transmission, and signaling protocols into complete network configurations.
Evaluate, deploy, and maintain enterprise network systems, including Palo Alto, Cisco, and VOIP platforms.
Implement and support cloud networking configurations across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
Monitor protocol compatibility, tune systems for optimal performance, and recommend improvements.
Create and maintain network documentation, schematics, technical standards, and best practices.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and technical requirements.
Diagnose and resolve complex network issues with minimal downtime.
Support outage recovery, hardware/software troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Monitor network performance metrics to identify risks and potential service-impacting issues.
Lead integration efforts for new applications and systems into the network.
Manage cloud networking environments and ensure secure connectivity to cloud services.
Implement and administer VOIP systems to ensure high-quality voice communication.
Integrate firewall, authentication, and security protocols within network infrastructure.
Stay current with emerging networking technologies and certifications.

CCIE Enterprise or CCNP Enterprise (Required)

Python scripting and automation (Highly Preferred)
Strong knowledge of:
Cisco LAN/WAN and routing equipment
Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2012 2022
LAN/WAN technologies, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, SSL, VPN
Routing protocols and network troubleshooting
Mainframe emulation tools
Cisco Meraki and Meraki Dashboard
Ability to develop upgrade/implementation plans and work with project teams to execute changes.
Ability to write and maintain technical documentation and Python scripts.
