Job Title: Network Engineer
Client: Inova Health Systems
Nice to Have Certification(s): CCNA or CCNP Certified
Interview Process: One step hour long Microsoft Teams interview
Pay Rate Hourly/Salary Range: $62.50/HR-$67.30/HR and $130,000-$140,000
Contract Type/Length: 6-Month Contract (Potential to be longer than a 6 month contract)
Location/Hours of Operation: 45745 Nokes Blvd Sterling Virginia 100% onsite and Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm (Need to be flexible on schedule)
Daily Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot switches and UPSs.
  • Assist with the network closet audits.
  • Initiate and complete tasks without continual reminders.
  • Responsible for: cabling, racking, and labeling of the switches.
  • Manage escalations and sub-cases to ensure timely and high quality resolution of all issues.
  • Define and manage disaster recovery and business continuity standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in a on-call rotation with an understanding that additional work hours may be required.
  • Proactively research industry trends and shares information/recommendations with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Develop or lead the creation of installations, configurations, and the maintenance of policies and procedures.
  • Works well independently in the resolution of problems while allowing for other team members to continue to work on other tasks
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures and security requirements as well as all federal, state and contractual obligations
  • Develops and implements strategies for providing facilitative support resulting in fewer incidents, increased availability and/or accelerated deployments.
  • Proactively identify and implement successful preventive measures as evidenced by minimal issues associated with assigned systems and implementations.
  • Support the GE Patient monitoring project onsite at various hospitals working alongside the biomed team to support the migration of the patient monitoring systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to resolve problems effectively and efficiently while being required to ensure minimal disruptions and unplanned downtime of assigned systems.
  • Using established standards, or under the direction of an Architect, you will manage data communications infrastructure such as switches, routers, firewalls, power equipment and supporting infrastructure.
  • Act as a technical point of contact during Business/Disaster Recovery planning and preparedness efforts by participating in meetings, developing and documenting plans/procedures as well as participating in tests for responsible systems.


Requirements Qualifications:
  • Candidate must have strong, demonstrable skills in following and appropriately applying established policies and procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP and other protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, spanning tree, DNS, DHCP and firewall policies.
  • Five years, minimum, of experience working hands on with enterprise ticketing systems, network monitoring tools and packet capture tools.
  • Seven or more years, minimum, of experience in an enterprise networking environment with both administration and problem resolution of enterprise Cisco equipment required.


Nice to Have Certification:
  • Certified Cisco Network Associate CCNA or Certified Cisco Network Professional CCNP


Technical Skills:
  • Ability to establish and maintain cross-functional cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility.
  • Must be able to clearly and timely communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing.
  • Willing and competent in performing multiple tasks concurrently and responding to emergency situations effectively.
  • Ability to independently plan, organize and document complex system support activities and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures.
