We are searching for the best talent for Staff Systems Engineer to be in Raynham, Massachusetts.

SECTION 1: JOB SUMMARY

This position will play an important role in the forefront of arthroscopic equipment and other digital technology for the orthopedic medical device industry. As a Staff Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of system product development for orthopedic platforms, including system requirements generation, risk analysis, verification and validation, and sub-system integration. Additionally, you will work with cross-disciplinary teams to update and maintain system architectures, user interfaces and instructions for use as well as support subsystem coordination. Communication and collaboration with cross-disciplinary internal and/or external teams will be essential for success.

SECTION 2: DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Under (e.g. limited supervision, general direction, etc. ) and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
  • Perform requirements management, ensuring requirements are structured, organized, maintained, and communicated across multi-disciplined and multi-site teams.
  • Responsible for performing system level risk analysis, including use risk analysis, in a highly regulated environment.
  • Collaborate with sub system teams on requirements and risk cascade.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams developing design strategies, system architectures, functional diagrams and participate in the generation of concepts.
  • Evaluate multi-functional solutions to help identify and select the best design answers for specific requirements.
  • Partner with key partners to develop use cases and user stories to further define system user needs, design requirements and system risks.
  • Provide continuing systems engineering support to existing products and sustaining engineering activities.
  • Analyze mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces. Work with cross functional teams on system integration and interface management, ensuring high system performance and reliability
  • Partner with hardware engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, marketing, and testing using a systems engineering approach throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Support regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure system requirements, designs and deliverables meet Medical Device Electrical Safety (IEC 60601) Requirements.
  • Coach team members on System Engineering methodologies and best practices.
  • Manage more junior System Engineers as direct reports if team structure supports this.
  • Contribute to process development and improvement related to System Engineering activities.
  • Understands and applies Johnson & Johnson's Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with team.

SECTION 3: EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION*
  • BS in Systems, Biomedical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics.
  • Advanced/Graduate degree in engineering preferred.
  • Degree or experience in systems engineering.
  • Experience with orthopedic medical device product development. Experience with Arthroscopic Equipment a plus.
  • Experience with visualization solutions, fluid management, resection, surgical navigation and/or robotics.
  • Experience with Design Controls and requirements management in a medical device development environment.
  • Experience with sustaining engineering and change management of medical devices.
  • Experience executing system design verification and validation testing.
  • Knowledge of standards including IEC 60601, ISO 14971, ISO 13485 and 62366.
  • Experience in an operating room setting supporting surgeons in the use of digital technology.

SECTION 4: REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant Engineering experience.
  • Experience with software controlled electro-mechanical medical devices
  • Experience in System Safety and Risk Analysis in a medical device development environment, including Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Use Risk Analysis, and design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.

The expected base pay range for this position is 105,000 to 169,000 annually.

  • The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
  • Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.

o Vacation -120 hours per calendar year

o Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington -56 hours per calendar year

o Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays -13 days per calendar year

o Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

o Parental Leave - 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

o Condolence Leave - 30 days for an immediate family member: 5 days for an extended family member

o Caregiver Leave - 10 days

o Volunteer Leave - 4 days

o Military Spouse Time-Off - 80 hours
