Starting Annual Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000. Pay range is an estimated guideline and based on a combination of experience and skill set factors. Individual compensation will vary based on non-discriminatory factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skill level, abilities, and other competencies.

General Responsibilities Overview:

The Data Platform Engineer role at Colorado 811 is a dual role contributing as the data platform management expert in data engineering and infrastructure, with hands-on responsibility as the organization s primary Data Integration Process and Environment Systems Administrator, paired with the responsibilities for managing strategies and systems related configurations for customer relationship management (CRM). This is an exciting opportunity to build a foundational data environment and architecture for Colorado 811 s data ecosystem from the ground up.

This individual will lead the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Colorado 811 s core business systems, creating a centralized repository structured data environment and aligning system configurations, most notably HubSpot, Exactix, QuickBooks, and other integrated platforms, ensuring data movement and alignment of evolving operational, education, marketing, marketing, membership, and other business needs and systems. This includes building automated workflows for data extraction from various sources, managing CRM system configurations, creating documentation, schemas, overseeing user access, data governance, and data security, building a data warehouse/data lake, and delivering cross-platform data integrity and a high-performance environment. This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the organization s data architecture and integration ecosystem including data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, cloud or hybrid storage environments, data security and cleanliness, and the use of all transactional database configurations and security features. This role ensures the flow of clean, governed, secure, and reliable data across systems, enabling business intelligence, forecasting, reporting, and decision-making across departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Platform Engineering:

  • Build and maintain the organization s foundational data extraction, storage, and data mobility environment, manage cloud/hybrid data architecture with integration between core platforms (e.g., Ticketing, CRM, Accounting, Education, databases) and corresponding data governance.
  • Create and manage organizational data access policies by implementing appropriate data handling, testing, governance, entry, and storage practices to deliver efficient data movement in ETL environment.
  • Assess and maintain proper data storage needs and manage data retrieval processes by optimizing environment and data extraction processes and delivery solutions to ensure quick access to data while minimizing storage costs.
  • Manage, monitor, and support server and cloud datastore environments.
  • Implement business logic indexing and partitioning strategies to ensure a healthy data ecosystem across the organization.
  • Architect and optimize data solutions using cloud-based technologies and design, develop, and deploy data pipelines and data warehouses to support business intelligence and data analytics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data requirements and develop solutions to meet business needs.
  • In concert with the IT, manage data security and implement security and permission policies to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access in all systems (internal and external access protocols), prevent breaches and maintain user access parameters across the organization to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations such asCANSPAM, GDPR, and CCPA.
  • Specify data platform components and configurations required for data pipeline implementation.
  • Build, maintain, and improve major components of our data infrastructure such as our data loader, data ingestion, ETL tools and connections with downstream destinations and implement data pipeline metrics and maintain ETL environments to monitor performance, accuracy, and availability of data.
  • Research, implement, and evolve methods to process data quickly and efficiently and optimize data processing and data access to business intelligence tools.
  • Provide domain and database/software system configuration expertise across the organization to enable business growth, data-based decision making, and development through data services and data models.
  • Perform data architecture design, table design, metric consistency, data modeling, and implementation of data platforms and analytics applications.
  • Develop and implement automated testing and deployment of scripts to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of data solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical and governance documentation of all database systems and ensure data quality, security, and compliance to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to develop and deploy machine learning models, reporting, and dashboards.
  • In concert with Senior Manager of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics troubleshoot systemic data related issues and lead improvement efforts across the organization
  • Troubleshoot database performance issues, including slow queries and indexing problems, and ensure data exchange availability, security, and integrity across multiple platforms.
  • Work closely with IT/engineering and other team members and support them in establishing analytics and decision support capabilities that enable the business teams to make data-driven decisions driving acquisition growth and customer monetization and retention. Increase the efficiency of old business processes and aid in the development of new business processes to continually improve data collection processes, cleanliness, integrity, and reliability.
  • Support senior staff on various special data-focused projects related to planning/forecasting, ongoing operations, and corporate development, as necessary.
  • Extract and manipulate data from a variety of systems and offline reporting for use reporting, utilizing cloud-based and/or on-premises analytics tools to analyze data, as necessary.
  • Exercise an inquisitive mindset to transform business questions into actionable data exploration exercises, as well as take reported data and shape it into actionable business questions.
  • Develop an understanding of each operating business's role within the larger organization.

System / CRM Configuration/Maintenance:

  • Set up and manage HubSpot CRM, Exactix Administration, and maintain all other system platform configurations, manage configuration change impact on data flow, administer system configurations and functionality changes in concert with each business unit on an ongoing basis to avoid negative impact on application configuration changes connected in ETL/Data Lake environment.
  • Create database schemas and hierarchy and configuration documentation, managing data cleanliness and flow in between tables, records, custom fields, pipelines, EDI / ETL and Cloud functionality, stages, and data mapping to align with all business processes.
  • Manage storage and tracking of customer information, including name, email, and other data and contact history in line with company data governance strategy, and data management best practices and policies.
  • Achieve and maintain Exactix and HubSpot CRM integration and configuration logs, manage technical/functional capabilities to build and maintain a CRM / Exactix and other platform connectivity to bolster the Company s business functions.
  • Work on optimizing database and system implementation projects, including requirements, documentation, configuration, and execution.
  • Maintain high data integrity, security, and best practices to build a CRM integration and data flow schema that is a reliable source of data for the business.
  • Design and implement automated workflows within ETL data environment to streamline data movement necessary for robust lead generation and nurturing, all marketing, membership, education records maintenance, and maintain data related accounting, membership, and customer support processes.
  • Coordinate with all business units to build a pipeline of prospects and automate follow-ups, manage online knowledgebase and customer-facing data storage documentation for all business areas.
  • Manage customer and member / prospect data, owning audience segmentation and data personalization through advanced data normalization and data augmentation techniques, increasing engagement and conversion rates.
  • Regularly conduct technology audits and develop CRM and communication stake tech strategies.
  • Ensure data accuracy and hygiene within various ticketing, marketing, membership, accounting, and other systems and connected systems by monitoring data entry best practices, performing data cleansing activities, and establishing data governance practices across the organization.
  • Provide ongoing support and training to all personnel on how to maintain clean databases, effective data flow, platform configurations, and data entry/use of all databases and platforms in ETL infrastructure.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of proven experience in data engineering, software development with data engineering focus, or advanced data analytics.
  • Advanced skills in languages such as Python and SQL are required.
  • Strong background in data modeling, metadata management, and strong understanding and inner workings of metadata management, data lineage, and data governance.
  • Robust experience with data security and compliance (CCPA, CANSPAM, GDPR etc.).
  • Deep knowledge of data architecture, including data lakes, data warehouses, database management and ETL and data pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure or other cloud environments and tools such as Glue, Redshift, Athena, Airflow, Data Factory or similar.
  • Proven ability to consume business requirements, including user stories, use case development and clearly document and communicate workflow processes is required.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Robust experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS and Azure and deep expertise in modern data architecture including ETL/ELT pipelines, Data Lakes, Warehouses, Catalogs, and Real-time Streaming is required.
  • Deep understanding of data processing environments such as Spark and Databricks or similar, and robust experience and skills in areas such as AWS Glue, AWS Data Zone, AWS Glue Studio, AWS Athena, Redshift, S3, AWS Data Pipelines, Airflow, Fivetran or similar are a plus.
  • Ability to clearly document and communicate data governance and architectural concepts at multiple levels.
  • Strategic and hands-on mindset with the ability to influence technical direction, deliver hands-on output, guide engineering best practices, and align data work to business outcomes.
  • A willingness to gain certification and deep understanding of the HubSpot and Exactix databases and CRM platform configurations and features in every module, including processes and data mapping needs, ticketing systems, and features, and capabilities is required.
  • Willingness and ability to learn, understand and support the damage prevention industry and its evolving needs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Management, or related technology field (Master s Degree preferred).
  • Certification(s) in data platform/cloud technologies or relevant systems preferred.
