Position: Senior Backend Engineer (Python, PySpark, AWS)
Location: Pasadena, CA Hybrid (In-Person Interview Required)
Type: Contract (W2 / C2C)

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Python, PySpark, and AWS to join our client s backend and data engineering team in Pasadena, CA.
The ideal candidate is hands-on with backend systems, data pipelines, and cloud-based applications, and can deliver robust, production-quality solutions in a hybrid work setup.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and data pipelines using Python, PySpark, and Databricks.

  • Architect and implement scalable APIs and microservices leveraging Java (Spring) and Python.

  • Optimize PostgreSQL data models and queries for scalability and reliability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams Data Engineering, Architecture, and DevOps to ensure system stability.

  • Deploy and manage applications in AWS (Lambda, EC2, S3, Glue, EMR, etc.).

  • Lead technical design discussions and mentor junior engineers.

  • Participate in performance tuning, debugging, and production support.

  • (Bonus) Integrate with external platforms such as OpenText.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of backend software development experience.

  • Strong expertise in Python, PySpark, and Databricks.

  • Proven experience with Java (Spring Framework) for backend microservices.

  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, API design, and backend architecture.

  • Hands-on with AWS services (Lambda, EC2, S3, Glue, EMR, etc.).

  • Experience with PostgreSQL or other RDBMS.

  • Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
