Overview
The Windows Copilot team is at the forefront of redefining how AI enhances everyday computing. This team owns the full stack-from cutting-edge AI infrastructure and model development, to crafting seamless user experiences directly in Windows.
We're building and shipping consumer-scale services that are transforming how users interact with their PCs. Whether it's designing intelligent prompts, engineering robust backends to interface with models, or developing native Windows platform and UX features, this team does it all.
The Data Scientist will be part of the Windows Copilot team, responsible for developing the Windows Copilot application, which is the most ambitious copilot surface at Microsoft. The team handles the core technologies, user experience, and application development for Windows Copilot.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

- Handle and control various features, builds, and experiments to improve retention and activation
- Understand user demographics and preferences to guide investment decisions
- Analyze product usage, segment by demographic and market, and help build and design new features

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience building data pipelines, training deep learning models, and optimizing AI workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to analyze large datasets, extract insights, and apply them to model improvements.
- Ability to work independently, including writing queries and building dashboards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, research-driven environment, balancing multiple priorities while fostering collaboration.
- Dedication to writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Experience in adding telemetry data points directly into builds
- Startup experience, especially in the data science space
