Job Description:

You will support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with a Veteran first vision to transform the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) with greater visibility into claims processing. Responsibilities:
Build and maintain data pipelines to extract, transform, and load structured and unstructured data into scalable AWS-based data platforms.
Design and optimize data architectures using AWS services like Glue, Redshift, S3, Athena, Lambda, EMR, and RDS.
Implement and enforce data governance, security, and quality policies in accordance with VA standards.
Support data ingestion from legacy systems and external partners, including OCR, APIs, and flat files.
Develop reusable scripts and automation for data transformation and orchestration (Python, SQL, PySpark, etc.).
Collaborate with analysts and data scientists to support advanced analytics and ML initiatives.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune performance of ETL workflows and database systems.
Contribute to DevSecOps and CI/CD practices for data engineering components.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or cloud data platforms.
Hands-on experience with AWS data services (Glue, S3, Redshift, Lambda, Athena, etc.).
Proficiency in Python, SQL, and ETL development.
Familiarity with data lake and data warehouse architectures.
Experience with DevOps tools, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
Understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance in regulated environments.
Experience with healthcare or government datasets is a plus.
AWS certifications such as Data Analytics - Specialty or Solutions Architect preferred.
Must be able to obtain a Position of Trust and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting

The likely salary range for this position is $100,300 - $135,700. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
