Position Summary
In this role, the engineer translates customer needs into technical solutions, often involving modifications to existing products or systems. Interact with customers to gain a clear understanding of the project requirements, work with 3D CAD software, create technical documentation, and collaborate with various teams to ensure successful implementation and manufacturing. Key responsibilities include managing customer relationships, performing design calculations, conducting verification testing, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, supporting quotation process and navigating projects through the engineering change process.
Responsibilities
Translating Requirements: Collecting and converting customer requirements into technical specifications and solutions.
Design and Modeling: Creating and modifying 3D CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings.
Documentation: Developing and maintaining technical documentation, including BOMs and test reports.
Collaboration: Working with sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful customization and implementation.
Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving technical issues related to customization.
Compliance: Ensuring all customizations adhere to relevant industry standards and regulations.
Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiency related to customization.
In addition to these core responsibilities, a customization engineer may also be involved in:
Quoting and Estimating: Providing technical input for quotes and cost estimates for customized products. Working with the operations team and commercial teams to appropriately price our solutions.
Testing and Validation: Designing and executing testing and validation of customized products to ensure they meet performance requirements. Testing competitor products and assisting in designing other non-standard testing.
Troubleshooting: Providing technical support for customized products in production or in the field. Understand basic troubleshooting/problem solving techniques.
Training: Training other engineers or users on the customization process or specific tools.
Travel: This role is expected to travel infrequently, with possible customer visits occurring once or twice a year.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor degree (BS) in an engineering or science technical discipline.
Experience: Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 2-3 years of related experience. (Pumps, Pneumatic devices or systems...etc)
CAD Proficiency: Strong skills in 3D CAD software, such as Inventor or Solidworks....etc. Understands basic, best practices in CAD, able to access and manipulate models, assemblies and drawings.
Technical Drawing: Ability to create and interpret technical drawings, including GD&T.
Engineering Fundamentals: Knowledge of engineering principles, calculations, and analysis.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and customers.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve technical issues related to customization. Familiarity with established problem-solving tools/methods
Project Management: Ability to manage projects from start to finish, including setting milestones, procurement, and taking appropriate action to maintain schedules.
