Work Arrangement:

The Vice President Embedded Finance Integration Engineer is responsible for integrating third-party payment gateways, banking APIs, and financial services while ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient data exchanges. This role is responsible for managing RESTful APIs, authentication protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT), and financial transaction flows to optimize payments, settlements, and reconciliation processes. Additionally, the Integration Engineer is responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance our platform's connectivity and ensure seamless financial operations.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Works with Product Managers to design, develop, and maintain RESTful & GraphQL APIs for financial services integration.
- Builds middleware solutions to connect different financial service providers.
- Works with payment gateways, card processors, and ACH/wire transfer providers.
- Implements OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, and other authentication mechanisms.
- Ensures PCI-DSS, SOC 2, GDPR, and financial data compliance.
- Designs high-availability systems with proper failover and redundancy including use of observability tools.
- Maintains comprehensive API documentation using tools like Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Builds developer-friendly SDKs for easy integration (Python, Java, Node.js, etc.).
- Works with real-time ledgers to track transactions, balances, and settlements.
- Builds ETL pipelines for financial data processing and reporting.
- Supports customer success & integration teams for API troubleshooting.
- Works with regulatory & compliance teams to ensure APIs meet financial regulations.
Qualifications
Education/Experience Requirements
- An Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- 10+ years of experience in financial services.
- 5-8 or more years of experience in API development & integration, with a focus on fintech, banking-as-a-service, or payment systems.
- Prior experience in payment processing, digital banking, lending-as-a-service (LaaS), or embedded finance platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Self-Starter who can work independently in a self-managed team environment.
- Proficient in identifying project requirements, developing project plans, and managing project risks.
- Excellent communication skills adept at delivering information to audiences of all levels.
- Working knowledge of a bank's risk management framework including the role and activity of critical stakeholders.
- Expertise in event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Deep understanding of PCI-DSS compliance, KYC/AML regulations, and secure financial data handling.
- Proven track record in designing scalable and high-performance financial APIs.
