Position: Project Manager
Duration: 1 year contract (likely extension)
Location: Remote
This position oversees several priority business projects within our government client s portfolio, focusing on a large, digital transformation rollout. This position can also be responsible for managing scope, and schedule for large, complex state agency projects and initiatives. This role serves as a part of a project management office focused on delivering projects on-time and meeting customer service standards. Additionally, the candidate may contribute to the evolution and improvement of the Project Management Office (PMO) for our government client.
Daily responsibilities include assisting in project scoping, stakeholder identification, work breakdown structure, and stakeholder reporting for the broader team s initiative. The candidate will also be responsible for overseeing the ongoing aspects of project management, including scope management, resource identification, requirements gathering, scheduling, and communicating status both upstream and downstream, for individual projects.
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Oversee multiple projects to ensure proper management towards successful conclusion.
- Manage large enterprise-type projects that involve multiple internal stakeholders or contracted resources.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain project plans.
- Develop and enforce project charters, ensuring stakeholder alignment from initiation.
- Build and maintain detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project.
- Manage and update RAID logs to track risks, assumptions, issues, and decisions.
- Plan and deliver projects using Waterfall methodology, emphasizing clear documentation and upfront planning.
- Perform bi-weekly project reporting, including data entry and dashboard updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent ownership and delivery across the project lifecycle.
- Provide input and updates to team-level status reports and executive summaries.
- Define users and project team members roles and responsibilities on the project.
- Define user requirements, deliverables, and approvals.
- Coordinate and monitor activities of all stakeholders to ensure timelines met.
- Communicate project status to management and project stakeholders.
- Conduct regular recap emails to various stakeholders
What You Will Need For Success:
- BS Degree in Business or Information Technology and/or 5+ years of applicable experience. Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in project management
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Experienced in project discovery and the ability to understand and manage requirements.
- Ability to grasp complex information and distill it across different communication channel
- Strong aptitude and ability to take initiative to seek areas of opportunity and drive the needle forward
- Experience and ability to manage team impediments.
- Experience creating and managing project charters
- Comfortable with ambiguity, independent development, tight, multi-faceted timelines
- Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.
