About the Role
Job Overview
The Principal Enterprise Architect will serve as the strategic and technical authority for the Data Center Migration program. This individual contributor role is responsible for defining architectural standards, governance models, and reusable frameworks that ensure consistency, scalability, and resilience across the enterprise. The role will collaborate closely with Infrastructure Transformation, DevSecOps, and Platform Architecture teams to align migration efforts with the organization s long-term technology vision.

This role reports directly to the Vice President II, Software Development Manager - Platform Architecture, and will work in close alignment with Infrastructure Transformation, DevSecOps, Scale, and Operations teams to ensure architectural consistency and operational excellence across the Data Center Migration program.
Location & Work Arrangement
This role is based in Fort Mill, SC, with a fully in-office schedule Monday through Thursday. While Fort Mill is strongly preferred, candidates located in New York City or Austin, TX will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Provide architectural input into tooling decisions related to the Data Center Migration program, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and long-term platform strategy. Offer feedback on vendor team performance, particularly in areas impacting architectural integrity, migration velocity, and operational risk.
Executive Engagement
This role will have regular visibility with SVP and EVP-level audiences, providing architectural updates, migration progress insights, and risk mitigation strategies. The Enterprise Architect will be expected to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to senior leadership and contribute to strategic decision-making forums.

The role will collaborate closely with Infrastructure Transformation, DevSecOps, and Platform Architecture teams to align migration efforts with the organization s long-term technology vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain Enterprise Data Center (EDC) architecture standards, including platform and application expectations, with a clear understanding of differences from legacy data centers (e.g., EPGs, no shared VMs, latest OS requirements).
- Leverage published wave plans to proactively support migration efforts. Partner across Solution Architects (SAs), Enterprise Architects (EAs), and technical leads to ensure successful execution.
- Evaluate shared platforms such as EMS, DataPower, and Kafka to identify opportunities for simplification and risk reduction during migration.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including EDC requirements, how-to guides, FAQs, and watch-outs to baseline expectations across teams.
- Author and maintain the Platform Solution Specification for the EDC, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and operational needs.
- Establish feedback loops with the broader technology ecosystem to publish and maintain approved architectural patterns, including alternatives to SRM for disaster recovery.

Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Deep expertise in VMware architecture and tooling, including virtualization strategies and migration best practices.
- Strong foundation in networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, segmentation, and firewall policies.
- Proven experience in data center migration, infrastructure transformation, or platform modernization initiatives.
- Ability to create and maintain architectural documentation, including solution specifications, how-to guides, and approved patterns.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
- Additional certifications in cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) are a plus.
