Senior Data Platform Engineer / AWS Lakehouse Architect

Location: Remote (U.S. Based)

Employment Type: Contract

Required Skills & Experience:

7+ years of experience in data engineering or cloud-based data platform development.

3+ years of experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, Glue, IAM, Step Functions, Lambda, and related.

Proven experience with medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers).

Strong proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with R is a plus.

Hands-on experience building data ingestion pipelines using ELT/ETL best practices.

Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, CJIS, MARS-E.

Experience creating reusable infrastructure templates (IaC is a plus).

Experience with metadata cataloging and schema evolution strategies.

Ability to write technical documentation and templates for repeatable implementation.

Experience working with government or public sector clients is a strong plus.

Preferred Certifications:

AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty

AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) preferred

Project Deliverables Include:

Implementation of Data Lake on AWS Commercial Cloud

Deployment of Bronze (Ingestion), Silver (Modeling), and Gold (Fit-for-purpose) layers

Enhanced Data Cataloging and Orchestration Layer

Splunk Integration and Security Monitoring Setup

Reusable templates for onboarding new data sources

Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in team settings

Comfortable presenting to technical and non-technical stakeholders
